Mentoring Pairs Doctoral Candidates with Master's Students

Durham University treats peer support as an academic service. Doctoral candidates who have passed confirmation review may mentor master's students in related fields.

Pairs are matched by discipline and timezone. Mentors complete training on boundaries and referral. Mentors do not rewrite a mentee's assignment.

The Student Success Office tracks participation each term. Specialist help — disability, hardship — is referred to the proper office.

The application fee is US$30 and is refunded in full if you are not accepted. Online tuition is £0. Collegiate residential study at the Palatine Centre, Stockton Road, Durham DH1 3LE remains a paid pathway.

Matching runs at the start of each intake from the student portal. Mentoring is service, not a shortcut around assessment.
