Durham University Library Answers Online Students Across Time Zones

A university that only staffs its library during UK office hours does not serve online students. Durham University has moved the digital desk to a rota covering evenings and weekends in several time zones.

Students can book a research appointment or request a search strategy. Chat is staffed by librarians. Collections include e-books and journals appropriate to law, business, science and the humanities.

Information-literacy workshops run twice weekly. Attendance is optional but recommended before the first major assignment.

The application fee is US$30 and is refunded in full if you are not accepted. Online tuition is £0. Collegiate residential study at the Palatine Centre, Stockton Road, Durham DH1 3LE remains a paid pathway.

The Bill Bryson Library and Palace Green remain physical spaces for collegiate students in Durham. Online access is included for enrolled students on both pathways.
