Computing Students at Durham Build Projects They Can Defend

Durham University has updated computing programmes so graduates can explain the systems they ship. Major projects include an evaluation plan and a written account of harm, bias and failure modes.

Modules cover software engineering, databases, machine learning and security. Supervision is weekly and remote for online students. Campus students may use college IT rooms in Durham.

Academic integrity guidance covers generative tools: scaffolding is allowed, silent substitution is not. Markers may viva a submission that does not match prior work.

The application fee is US$30 and is refunded in full if you are not accepted. Online tuition is £0. Collegiate residential study at the Palatine Centre, Stockton Road, Durham DH1 3LE remains a paid pathway.

Public computing seminars run monthly. Recordings are archived for those whose working hours make live UK attendance impossible.
